Book Now for Christmas - The Solihull Observer

YOU MAY not want to admit it but Christmas is just under 12 weeks away and it’s now time to start considering how to mark the celebration.

As well as causing a lot of stress and strain, Christmas is also a great time to let your hair down and party, party, party.

And Solihull and the surrounding areasĀ are blessed with a variety of places to share in the festivities with colleagues, friends and loved ones.

The important thing to remember is book well in advance to avoid disappointment, because everyone will be thinking, and doing the same.

For instance, why not try one of the fine pubs/restaurants available in the area. Most will be offering a range of two and three course menus to suit a variety of tastes.

And these days if you do not fancy eating turkey several times over the festive season you don’t have to as most places will offer succulent steaks or other delicious dishes to offer that festive variety.

Menus are also available at a variety of prices to suit all budgets.

There is also the option of dining out on Christmas Day and Boxing Day itself. Why not treat the family and let someone else take the strain and the added bonus is you don’t have to do the washing up.

Once again though it’s important to book well in advance – not only does it help hotels and restaurants with their ordering and staffing but it also ensures you have a seat at the table on the big day itself!

Alternatives are also available to the traditional Christmas fayre for those who cannot stomach the sight of another slice of turkey.

Why not go Oriental and indulge in a Chinese buffet? Or sample the fine cuisine on offer from one of the area’s many Indian restaurants.

But if you are staying at home this Christmas and have been given – or volunteered – to cook the family dinner on the big day then now is the time to start thinking about ordering the meat.

Fresh food served beautifully will only enhance the experience for your loved ones so why not turn to one of the numerous farm shops or butchers in the area who can provide you with the ingredients for a delicious Christmas meal.

Not only will they offer meat to beat the supermarket they will also be on hand to offer their expertise and guidance, especially if you are deciding to opt not to use the traditional turkey.

A festive tipple is also key to ensure your guests get in to the party spirit. If you are likely to be hosting numerous events why not decide on a range of drinks to ensure everyone can enjoy the festivities.

Wines, beers and spirits are in abundance across the borough and beyond, and any good outlet will be able to advise you on the best to pick according to your tastes – remembering something less boozy for the non-drinkers of course.

And if you fancy a show – and Christmas is the best time of all for going out and enjoying a panto, get those tickets well in advance because they are in such a demand and you don’t want to be disappointed or not get seats all together.

The important message is don’t delay – whether it’s booking a works party out, dining out with friends, ordering the food and drink for the big day itself or going out for a festive spectacular – book it early.
