CHARITABLE pupils at primary schools across Solihull have raised much needed funds for good causes.
Pupils and staff at Damson Wood Nursery and Infant School ditched their school shoes and wore slippers for the day in honour of Age UK Solihull.
The Slip into Slippers campaign raised £65 for the charity which provides advice, companionship and practical support to older residents in the borough.
A Year 2 pupil at Damson Wood Infant School: “It feels good to work together as a school to help our older people.”
Age UK Solihull said: “At Age UK, Solihull, we are grateful to the pupils at Damson Wood Nursery and Infants School for raising funds for our Slip into Slippers campaign, which takes place around International Older People’s Day each year.”
Over at Balsall Common Primary School the school councillors, raised £369 through a cake sale in support of Macmillan Cancer.
A Year 3 school councillor at Balsall Common Primary School said: “It was really busy on our cake stall and I liked helping raise money for charity.”
Manpreet Bains, assistant headteacher and School Council Lead said: “School Councillors led the way, baking and selling cakes to raise money for Macmillan.
“As someone who has used their services personally, it was great to see the children supporting Macmillan’s important work.
“The Councillors conducted themselves respectfully, and demonstrated our school values of community and initiative. I was proud to be involved.”
