Solihull residents urged to check eligibility for vital funding

Solihull Editorial 16th Sep, 2024   0

SILHILLIANS are being urged to check if they are eligible for funding to help with energy bills and the cost of living.

Saqib Bhatti, Meriden and Solihull East MP, is calling on constituents to check if they are in line to receive the Household Support Fund.

The funding provides eligible households with fuel vouchers of up to £147 through Act on Energy, fuel debt relief of up to £500 through Age UK Solihull, or payments of up to £147 to help towards their energy costs through Solihull Council.

The Fund also helps those most in need with support ranging from the cost of essentials, urgent household items, and access to food.

Other support includes energy efficiency advice, boiler repairs and maintenance, essential white goods, clothes and blankets to reduce energy costs and keep people warm.

Mr Bhatti said: “I urge anyone who thinks they may be eligible for the Household Support Fund to visit the website and apply before the deadline. This funding can be a great help to households that are struggling with rising energy bills and the cost of living.”

Solihull Council’s cabinet member for Housing, Councillor Mark Parker, said: “This funding can be a real lifeline to households struggling with the cost of living and rising energy bills, so I urge residents to check if they are eligible to make sure they are not missing out.”

Applications for the Household Support Fund are due to end on September 30.
