A HALL Green church is set to open its doors tomorrow (Saturday) as part of Birmingham Heritage week.
The Church of the Ascension was consecrated in 1704 and it is a fine example of a Queen Anne style Church.
The transepts and chancel were added in the 1860s to give the building its overall cruciform (cross shape) and it is still a place of active Christian worship to this day.
The Grade 2* listed church on School Road will be open from 11am until 2pm.
Reverend Nejib Boumenjel, said: “We love to welcome visitors to our historic church which has served the community here in Hall Green for 320 years.
“Everyone is welcome, whether you have never visited before, are a regular visitor or have a past connection with the Church.
“Friendly volunteers will be on hand to show visitors around the church, free of charge, and there will be a variety of information about the Church’s history.
“Tea, coffee, biscuits and squash will be available free of charge along with information about the work that the Church does in the community today.”
