PREPARATIONS are well under way for this year’s National Heritage weekend in Shirley.
The Shirley Institute will be opening its doors on September 14 to celebrate England’s largest festival of History and Culture from 10am until 4pm.
This is the third year the Church Road site has been involved in this free event and there will be talks at 11.10am. and 12.15pm, from local historians Gordon Bragg and Ann Turner.
This year the theme is Connections, Routes and Networks.
Refreshments with home-made cakes will be on offer and there is parking available at the rear of the building.
