A DIRECTOR at a Solihull opticians and hearing company has clocked up 50 years on the job.

Jeet Saimbi has marked her golden anniversary at Scrivens Opticians and Hearing Care which she has seen grow from a Midlands focused business with 40 branches to a nationwide company with 168 stores.

The professional services director, who lives in Solihull, joined the family owned business as a pre-reg dispensing optician, before qualifying as a dispensing and contact lens optician in 1974.

Her management career started at Scrivens’ branches in Birmingham Kingstanding and Ward End, before moving on to head up the Group’s contact lens business.

She was appointed to the board of directors in 1996.

Jeet said: “It has been an honour and pleasure to grow with Scrivens over the decades as the company expanded from its Birmingham roots to become a national retailer.

“Much has changed in terms of technology on both the optical and hearing care side of the business, but we have never lost sight of our roots by remaining committed to providing accessible community services, including NHS provision, on high streets up and down the country.

“I still love working for Scrivens and am continually learning and developing.

“Thankfully I have been surrounded by supportive and talented people who have been there for me both professionally and personally and the inevitable highs and lows of life.”

Scrivens chairman, Nicholas Georgevic, said: “To reach 50 years’ service is an incredible milestone.

“Jeet is one of three employees who have reached this amazing milestone this summer. They are all highly valued members of the Scrivens’ team and have contributed so much to our success. We look forward to benefitting from Jeet’s continued wisdom and professionalism.”
