THE SUMMER of sport is in full swing at a Shirley care home when residents hosted their own Olympics.

Inspired by the world’s best athletes competing in Paris Fountains Care Home welcomed two of their sister homes Edgbaston and Overslade House for the event.

Resident, Stuart, commented: “I absolutely love watching the Olympics, it is so wonderful to be able to cheer on our team.

“It was great to be able to hold an Olympic event here at our home.

“I was happy to meet new people, and share our sporting activities. I am pleased and excited that we still have the Paralympics to go!”

The home has been decked out with flags and residents have been enjoying all the action and cheering on Team GB over the past two weeks.

Sara King, general manager at the home, said: “We have loved watching the Olympics, we have watched pretty much all the different disciplines – lots of our residents are sports fans.

“It has been fantastic to be able to cheer on all of Team GB and watch our talented sportsmen and women bringing home medals in so many diverse sports.”
