A TEAM from two Solihull opticians are stepping up to the challenge of climbing Snowdon to raise funds for St. Basils.
The 15-strong team make up of employees from Specsavers stores on Greenwood Square in Chelmsley Wood and in Sainsbury’s on Castle Vale retail park will complete the ascent up the highest peak in Wales on August 18.
The team will be taking on the challenge in support of their nominated charity, St Basils which works with young people in the local community aged 16 to 25 who are experiencing or at risk of homelessness.
The team have already raised more than half of their £1,000 target.
Sukhwant Drake, director of the stores, said: “As a team we support St. Basils to raise money to help them continue their work.
“So many people are dealing with homelessness, and as a charity St Basils offers an employability programme along with support services to help young people across the West Midlands reach their full potential.
“We’re all working hard to get ready for the climb and I’m really proud of the team for embracing the challenge. We’ve already raised £525, all donations are welcome and people can head to our JustGiving page if they’d like to get involved.”
