SCHOOLS across Solihull fell silent ahead of Armistice Day to remember those who made the ultimate sacrifice.

Pupils and staff at Dorridge Primary School came together to remember the fallen.

To mark Armistice Day the school created a poppy on the playground – the symbol of remembrance.

Gemma Thelwell, deputy head teacher at the school said: “Pupil and staff at Dorridge Primary came together to commemorate those who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country in the line of duty.

“We thank you for your service.”

And students staff and parents came together at Solihull College and University Centre.

More than 100 Public Services students drill and parade took place ahead of the two minutes’ silence.

They were joined at the Blossomfield campus by Solihull Mayor, Councillor Diana Holl-Allen and the Mayor’s Consort, John Courtenay.
