FOODIES and families flocked to Solihull last weekend for the highly anticipated Food Festival.

As the autumn weather swept into the borough festival goers kept warm with sizzling street food, live music and sell-out cookery shows that brought Mell Square and Touchwood to life.

Solihull’s Masterchef 2022 runner-up Pookie Tredell took to the demo kitchen to show audiences how to make dishes ‘Pookie Style’.

TV chef Ainsley Harriott was moving to the beat as he packed out the demo kitchen before signing copies of his latest book.

Solihull’s own Michelin Star chef Glynn Purnell was also on hand in the demo kitchen showcasing new recipes for foodies to have a go at home.

Italian maestro Aldo Zilli, and Castle Bromwich-born chef Rob Palmer also wowed audiences in the demonstration tents.

As well as demonstrations there were plenty of other food and drink traders in Mell Square, Mill Lane and Solihull High Street.

Organised by Solihull BID and supported by RR Events, this year’s event featured live music Rum and Reggae zone in Mell Square with tribute act Rats In The Kitchen alongside other reggae and ska musicians.

Children had plenty to keep them entertained as dinosaurs roamed the town centre streets, a disco and a children’s foodie trail were on offer.

Observer photographer Marcus Mingins was on hand to capture a slice of the action.
