Cuppas raised to celebrate the NHS at 75

CUPPAS were raised in honour of the NHS’ 75th anniversary.

NHS Big Tea events were held at hospitals across University Hospital Birmingham NHS Foundation Trust (UHB) to mark the anniversary and raise funds for UHB Charity.

At Solihull Hospital doctors, nurses, staff and volunteers from across the wards, the oncology day unit and ophthalmology department came together for a brew and a slice of cake.

Everyone who attended the tea parties held across Queen Elizabeth Hospital Birmingham, Heartlands Hospital, Good Hope Hospital and the Lode Lane Hospital were encouraged to make a donation to UHB Charity which support patients, families and staff at their hospitals by providing ‘added extras’ that are over and above that which is provided by the NHS.

UHB chief executive, Mike Hammond, said: “It’s so important that staff get the support they need as that in turn helps the patients they treat; that’s why we hosted NHS Big Tea events at our four hospital sites, raising funds that help us go over and above what the NHS can provide as standard, providing ward refurbishments and state-of-the-art equipment along with smaller items like toys for our younger patients in the Children’s Departments.

“We are so grateful to our supporters and donors and encourage others to join us in celebrating 75 years of the NHS as we aim to help patients, their families, and staff for the next 75 years.”
