THERE was double delight for a Solihull student who received two top science and engineering awards.
Suleymaan Khan from WMG Academy for Young Engineers came out on top in the Network Rail Innovation Award and was a runner-up in the intermediate engineering category at the Big Bang UK Young Scientists and Engineers Competition.
The awards call on youngsters to invent solutions using science and engineering.
Suleymaan designed and created a bulter robot to help the elderly and disabled get their medicines, give them reminders of when tasks need to be done and offer company to the lonely.
It is voice activated, can move in any direction and has moving hands that can pick things up.
Amit Kotecha, senior campaigns manager from Network Rail said: “Innovators and engineers are integral to our work delivering a safe, reliable and green service for our passengers.
“We were impressed with Suleymaan’s innovative approach and robotics and coding skills – this is an achievement to be incredibly proud of.”
