THE SEARCH of Babbs Mill Lake has entered its third day.

West Midlands Police said it will continue with searches in Kingshurst today, December 13, after four boys were pulled from the icy lake on Sunday, December 11.

Three of the boys aged 11, 10 and 8 have tragically died and a six-year-old remains in hospital in a critical condition.

On Monday, December 12, mourners came together at a candle-lit silent vigil to lay flowers and pay tribute to those involved.

Among the tributes was one from West Midlands Fire Service who were applauded by mourners as they bowed their heads in respect while laying the flowers.

Although there are no reports of anyone else missing Richard Harris, Solihull Superintendent at West Midlands Police, said they will keep searching until they are 100 per cent certain no one else is in the water.

Among the tributes Shahin Ashraf said on twitter: “To the emergency services in Solihull, your courage, dedication, and selflessness mean so much. Thank you.

“The community organised a silent vigil for the boys 8,10,11, at Babbs Mill Lake, Our thoughts and prayers go out to family and friends.”

The Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak, has sent his deepest sympathies to families affected and sends his thanks to the emergency services for everything they have done.

He had been updated on the situation by Meriden MP, Saqib Bhatti, who has been at the scene.

Mr Bhatti said: “Our community has been devastated by this tragedy.

“My thoughts and prayers are with the parents, friends and families of the boys. I pay tribute to the emergency services for their bravery and courage.”
