Solihull Editorial 12th Nov, 2022   0

SOLIHULL will fall silent this Sunday to remember those who gave their lives for our freedom.

As well as paying tribute to fallen servicemen and women, this year also marks 40 years since the Falklands conflict.

The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Ken Meeson, and Mayoress of Solihull, Annette Meeson was in Touchwood and Morrisons in Solihull town centre alongside Solihull Royal British Legion (RBL) selling poppies to shoppers on Saturday, November 5.

The Mayor said: “It was a pleasure to join Poppy Appeal volunteers from the Solihull Royal British Legion at their stalls in Touchwood and Morrisons and to lay a wreath at Knowle Parish Church, following a remembrance service.

“As we approach Remembrance Sunday, please wear your poppies with pride and donate to the Poppy Appeal to help the Royal British Legion continue its vital mission supporting the Armed Forces community.”

The Mayor and Mayoress also attended a remembrance service at Knowle Parish Church on Sunday where the Mayor laid a wreath at the cenotaph.

Other at the service included Chris Jones the branch chairman for Knowle RBL and Saqib Bhatti Meriden MP.
