Rail strikes to hit Solihull this weekend

Solihull Editorial 30th Sep, 2022   0

CHILTERN Railways is urging passengers in Solihull and Dorridge to plan ahead as two strike days are set to go ahead.

There will be no Chiltern Railways service on any route on Saturday, October 1, and Wednesday, October 5.

This is due to a strike by the National Union of Rail, Maritime and Transport Workers (RMT) and the Associated Society of Locomotive Engineers and Firemen (ASLEF) on Saturday and ASLEF on Wednesday.

For other national train services on these dates there will be very limited services across the UK, with no services in some places.

Chiltern Railways has warned on Sunday, October 2, trains will start later than usual due to the displacement of trains and advise passengers to check before they travel. Due to planned engineering works, Oxford station will be closed on Sunday, with rail replacement bus services between Oxford and Oxford Parkway in operation for onward services to London Marylebone.

The railway company say there should not be an impact to services on Thursday, October 6, but trains may be busier than usual.

Anyone who has booked tickets for Saturday tickets are valid from September 30 to October 4.

Those with tickets for Wednesday tickets are valid for travel between October 4 and 7.

Chiltern expects to operate a significantly reduced timetable on October due to a RMT strike but with further information to be confirmed.
