OPERATIC songs are set to fill St Mary Magdalene church in Tanworth in Arden for charity.
London-based touring company Diva Opera will be performing Tosca on July 7 to help boost funds for the Friends of the Church and MASIC Foundation.
The Friends of the Church group have been raising funds for St Mary Magdalene which has recently undergone a major refurbishment and the MASIC Foundation supports women from Warwickshire and across the country who suffer from injuries in childbirth.
Tosca tells the story of opera singer Floria Tosca, as she fights to save her lover Cavaradossi from the sadistic police chief Scarpia.
Diva Opera have already performed on a number of stages across South Africa, France and The Channel Islands.
The summer event, of which the principal sponsor is Pertemps, is the brainchild of Professor Mike Keighley, who has lived in Tanworth-in-Arden for more than two decades.
He said: “It is rare that an internationally renowned opera company of this stature performs in a village setting.
“We held a similar very successful event four years ago and already tickets sales exceed 100.
“Tosca in Tanworth will be a very special occasion, and our aim is for everyone to have a memorable late afternoon and evening while raising much needed funds for good causes.”
