Teenagers take on Ready Steady Cook challenge with Royal Navy

Solihull Editorial 5th Mar, 2022   0

TEENAGERS at a Yardley school were challenged to a cooking competition by the Royal Navy.

Teams from year 11 at Cockshut Hill School were handed a mystery box of ingredients by serving members of the Royal Navy Catering Services Branch.

As part of the Ready Steady Cook Challenge the pupils were then asked to create a main course and a dessert, within an hour.

All ingredients were provided by the Royal Navy and the representatives encouraged a ‘clean as you go’ policy to enable the classroom to remain safe and tidy and to accommodate the presentation of their cooked food.

The teens also got to find out about life in the Royal Navy Catering Services branch as the members spoke about what service life is like and provided an insight into its educational, sporting and social opportunities.

Jason Bridges, principal at Cockshut Hill said: “I am really grateful to the representatives from the Royal Navy for taking the time to come and speak with our students and to do the Ready, Steady, Cook Challenge with them.

“The session was hugely enjoyable and provoked very enthusiastic responses from students and staff.”
