VETERANS celebrated Burns Night at Royal Star & Garter’s home in Solihull – with whisky tasting, bagpipes and haggis.

The residents in Solihull as well as those at the groups homes in Surbiton and High Wycombe, were treated to a traditional Burns Supper to celebrate the special day on Tuesday, January 25.

The veterans tucked into haggis, neeps and tatties and a dram or two of whisky as the celebrated the man widely recognised as the greatest ever Scot.

A bagpiper performed outside the Solihull Home before residents enjoyed their Burns Supper and the famous ‘Address to a Haggis’ which starts with the stanza:

“Fair fa’ your honest, sonsie face,

Great chieftain o the puddin’-race!

Aboon them a’ ye tak your place,

Painch, tripe, or thairm:

Weel are ye wordy o’ a grace

As lang’s my arm.”

The home also hosted a Scottish themed quiz and whisky-tasting session for residents.

Royal Star & Garter provides loving, compassionate care to veterans and their partners living with disability or dementia.
