KIND-HEARTED employees at a Solihull-based banking group raised more than £42,500 for the Alzheimer’s Society.
Staff at Paragon Banking Group held a number of fund-raising events last year including a monthly raffle, a Halloween cake sale, a Christmas luxury hamper raffle and held a company version of The Chase series, where a team of employees took on chaser Chief Executive Nigel Terrington.
A JustGiving page connected to Paragon alone saw employees raise over £12,000 for the charity.
Due to Covid-19 restrictions and with most employees working from home, virtual events were held, with some socially distanced events taking part in offices where possible.
Jennie Smith, chair of the Charity Committee at Paragon, said: “It’s been another challenging year for the Charity Committee, organising events virtually and on site with both the lockdown and return to office.
“Our employees’ response has been fantastic and this has meant we were able to smash our £30,000 target for the Alzheimer’s Society.
“The generosity of our people never fails to astound me and I am so proud of what we have achieved and the impact this will have on the lives of so many dealing with such a challenging disease.”
Paragon said Alzheimer’s Society was chosen as it is a leading organisation in supporting individuals living with dementia and funding research to find a cure.
Employees have selected mental health charity MIND as this year’s charity of the year.
