Solihull remembers the fallen

POPPIES were pinned proudly to chests as Silhillians bowed their heads in respectful silence to remember the fallen.

A service was held outside St Alphege Church in Solihull to remember those who paid the ultimate sacrifice not only in the World Wars but also recent conflicts.

A two-minute silence was held while people reflected and remembered those lost in battle.

This year’s service marked 100 years since the of the installation of the war memorial in 1921. and the centenary of the Royal British Legion, which continues to provide valuable support to veterans, their families and those still serving in our armed forces.




The Mayor of Solihull, Councillor Ken Meeson, laid a wreath at the war memorial at St Alphege Church alongside other diagnitories and organisations.

Meriden MP Saqib Bhatti and assistant West Midlands Police and Crime Commissioner Wasim Ali laid wreaths at the Solihull Remembrance Service.
