Rev Billy on song for free concert en route to COP26 conference

THE charismatic and colourful New York-based singers performers and climate change activists Reverend Billy & the Stop Shopping Choir are coming to Birmingham’s Midlands Arts Centre on November 7.

It’s all part of a whistlestop UK tour before arriving in Glasgow for the final two days of the COP26 climate conference on November 11-12. What’s more the Birmingham show, which is at 2pm, is absolutely free to attend.

New York’s Rev Billy is not on the delegate list for Glasgow’s COP26, but he’s going anyway along with his Stop Shopping Choir (now a mix of US and London based performers).

The (secular) Church of Stop Shopping combines song, theatre, music, art and righteous environmental protest.

A Rev Billy & The Stop Shopping Choir show is billed as featuring cloudbursts of rhythm, melody and message, a unique blend of performance art, theatre and singing.

Billy said: “If COP26 does its job there will be no need for a COP27! Time is tight and we owe it to the planet to get the word out there, the life of our world is at stake. Please do all you can to spread the word.”
