Covid cases highest in the West Midlands

SOLIHULL has the highest number of Covid cases within the West Midlands Combined Authority area, according to latest data.

The borough is recorded as having a rate of 466 cases per 100,000 people in the seven days up to October 1.

This makes it above the average for England, which currently stands at 338 cases per 100,000.

In Solihull 1,013 positive cases were reported – an increase of 108 from the week previous.




The borough has recorded a total of 28,884 positive cases since the start of the pandemic. Tragically of those 657 coronavirus-related deaths have been registered to September 24.

Coventry comes in second with 392 cases of Covid per 100,000 and Walsall has 375 cases per 100,000.


Birmingham currently has an infection rate of 248 cases per 100,000.
