Solihull comes together to raise funds at Macmillan's World’s Biggest Coffee Morning

KETTLES were boiling and show-stopping cakes were created across the borough as Solihull came together to support those affected by cancer.

Families, friends and businesses joined forces to raise funds for Macmillan Cancer Support as part of The World’s Biggest Coffee Morning.

The Hair Shop on Yew Tree Lane saw plenty of hand-crafted cakes made specially for the occasion with donations also coming from One Stop and Morrisons.

A special balloon archway greeted visitors and in all £272 was raised for the caring charity.




Shop owner Patricia Jones said: “The coffee morning went really well and we’d like to thank everyone who supported us and Macmillan.”

In Shirley Pride Funeral Care and Bora Coffee Company joined forces to host a coffee morning.


Staff and customers came together to take part in the raffle and catch up over a brew and a slice of cake. Between them £140.52 was raised.

Staff and students at Solihull Sixth Form College also raised £132 at a coffee morning.

Cakes and bakes were snapped up in the college refectory and staff room with student development officers ensuring a a great selection of delicious treats were available.

Associate principal Anisa Lokat-Fanning said: “We’re only a few weeks into a new term, but it’s great to see staff and students coming together to support those less fortunate than themselves.

“Our student development team worked their socks off to ensure the event was a success and the money raised should make a real difference to those affected by cancer.”
