HS2, trees, housing, lots to talk about at village open meeting

Solihull Editorial 26th Sep, 2021   0

LOCAL residents are being urged to make their views known at the AGM of the Berkswell Society held in conjunction with Berkswell Parish Council’s Parish Assembly.

The event will offer people a chance to discuss issues of concern and ideas for improving the parish.

The Parish Assembly is direct democracy stemming back into history where residents can state their views to their council representatives regarding any issue they think important.

Parish councillors and borough councillors attend to listen and understand, but it is the residents’ meeting, apart from a short explanation of the activities and accounts of the Society.

Hot topics at the moment include what schemes could Solihull Council have for inclusion in the £2.4million road safety fund? plus issues around HS2 construction or the Solihull housing plan.

Is there land in Berkswell where SMBC should plant a forest?

People can come along and give their views and/or ask questions of councillors.

Attendees do not have to be a member of the Berkswell Society, just a resident of Berkswell Parish. Coffee and cake provided.

The meeting is at 7pm on Thursday, October 7 in the Jordan Room at St John Baptist Church, Church Lane, Berkswell.
