More self-isolating Solihull residents can get financial help

Solihull Editorial 29th Jun, 2021   0

MORE SILHILLIANS who are self-isolating due to Covid-19 can get financial help thanks to Solihull Council.

Residents who are unable to work from home and earn less than £26,000 a year are now eligible to apply for a £500 support payment.

Previously this payment was only for those who earned up to £13,400.

The support is available to those who have been told to self-isolate by NHS Test and Trace, people who are asked to self-isolate by their employer or if they are parents/carers of a child told to self-isolate by their education setting.

People can be employed or self-employed and they do not need to be receiving Universal Credit, Working Tax Credit, income-based Employment and Support Allowance, income based Jobseeker’s Allowance, Income Support, Housing Benefit and/or Pension Credit.

Councillor Bob Sleigh, cabinet member for resources, said: “We are pleased to be able to offer greater support to our residents who are facing financial hardship due to self-isolation.

“We know that it can be a real worry for people when they are asked to self-isolate and they aren’t able to work from home and face a loss of income. This payment will hopefully provide a much-needed boost to those in need.”
