MILITARY men and women were paid tribute in Shirley this week as the borough marked Armed Forces Week.
Veterans from Shirley Royal British Legion gathered at the memorial in Shirley Park to watch the Solihull Mayor, Councillor Ken Meeson, raise the Armed Forces Flag in tribute.
Due to Covid restrictions the numbers attended were scaled down, although the three services were represented by veterans, Neil Hardy from the Royal Navy, Erney Riley from the Army and John Barney from the Royal Air Forces.
The service was conducted by the Rev Theresa Jones.
Ken Rusell, Shirley Royal British Legion chairman said: “The Royal British Legion feels honoured to have this opportunity show our support for our gallant forces personnel who put their lives on the line for their country.
“This is a small token of our appreciation.”
