THE PARTY spirit was in full swing as a Second World War Royal Air Force typist celebrated her 100th birthday.
Millie (Beryl Mills) celebrated becoming a centurion surrounded by several friends at a garden party at Sunrise of Solihull care home in Shirley where she lives.
She was handed a number of gifts, and cakes and even had a card from the Queen.
Millie was born and raised in North London and for most of her working life she was a self-employed accountant.
During the Second World War she served as a typist in the Royal Air Force and based in Egypt.
Millie also used to love swimming and gardening.
When asked what her secret is to reaching a century, Millie said it was “having plenty of rest.”
At Sunrise of Solihull she enjoys being with other residents taking part in the activities and entertainment provided.
Millie said: “I was very shocked by all the attention I was receiving, but extremely grateful nonetheless for all the love everybody showed me.”
