RSPCA sees a surge in volunteers keen to help animal charity

Solihull Editorial 6th Jun, 2021   0

THE RSPCA says it has seen a surge in new volunteers since the start of the pandemic.

During what has been a difficult 15 months for all charities, the RSPCA has doubled its number of volunteers since the start of the first national lockdown.

During the last 12 months in particular, there has been an 85 per cent increase in volunteers with the charity currently having more than 16,000 animal lovers donating their time for free to help animals in need.

The news comes at the start of National Volunteer Week, which runs until June 7.

The Birmingham region rates second overall behind London as an RSPCA’s volunteering hotspot with 309 people stepping forward to give their time for free to help poorly animals.
