A SOLIHULL care home for veterans has been handed a cash boost.
The Royal Star and Garter home in Tudor Coppice, which cares for former service men and women and their partners who live with disability or dementia, has been handed £1,000 from Wadsworths Solicitors.
The legal firm, whose head office is based in Shirley, Solihull, donated £20 for every new conveyancing matter, the legal side of buying or selling a property, opened during the month of March 2020.
Whilst the Covid-19 pandemic struck during the initiative and the country was plunged into lockdown, the firm continued to receive instructions and firmly maintained its pledge to the charity, opening 50 new conveyancing files and therefore raising £1,000 for the Solihull home.
Lauren Baker, senior community fundraiser at the Royal Star and Garter, said: “We are extremely thankful to Wadsworths Solicitors for developing this fundraising initiative to support the veterans we care for.
“Maintaining links with our local community is so important to us and the residents who live in our Solihull Home.”
The Royal Star and Garter was founded in 1916 to care for severely injured young men returning from the battlegrounds of the First World War.
