Skipton boosts coffers to help the needy of Solihull with essentials

SOLIHULL Renewal Centre has been given a welcome cash boost of £60 from the local branch of the Skipton Building Society.

In a statement the building society said: “As a nation, we know it isn’t right that anyone should be left hungry or living in extreme poverty.

“With over 2,000 food banks across the UK supporting people who cannot afford the essentials in life, foodbanks provide a vital support network through local communities coming together to help those who need it most.

“The food poverty rate in the UK is among the highest in Europe.

“Despite being the sixth richest country in the world, millions are struggling to access the food they need every single day. With the rate ever increasing, foodbanks need help now more than ever.”

The money donated by Skipton’s Solihull branch will go towards daily essentials and cupboard staples such as tinned food, tea and coffee at the foodbank organised by the centre.

Branch manager Rebecca Parker said: “Throughout the pandemic, it has never been more important to support local foodbanks and help all those going through the food poverty every day.”

People can donate goods to the foodbank through the Solihull Renewal Centre at renewalcc.com.
