MENTAL health charities have been handed a cash injection to help Solihull residents during the pandemic.

Solihull Council has announced two new organisations have benefited from money made available through the Winter Wellbeing and Recovery Fund.

Ordinary Magic C.I.C, has received £5,000 to provide a variety of mental health support to children and young people in Shirley.

Also Solihull Samaritan have been given £5,000 to allow services to be provided for the next two months after having to cancel fundraising activities due to COVID-19.

Councillor Alison Rolf, Cabinet Member for Stronger and Safer Communities commented: “I’m delighted that Ordinary Magic C.I.C and Solihull Samaritans have benefited from funds made available.

“This money will go towards supporting physical and mental health, as well as fighting poverty and exclusion throughout our borough.”

This fund was established at the end of last year to provide money to support local services aimed at alleviating poverty, encouraging good mental health, digital inclusion and supporting those self-isolating.

The fund is in partnership with the Heart of England Community Foundation.
