Council serves order on Dorridge restaurant for Covid breaches

Solihull Editorial 16th Jan, 2021   0

THE Saleem Bagh restaurant on Station Road in Dorridge has been ordered to close by Solihull Council under the Health Protection (Coronavirus, Restrictions) (England) (No. 3) Regulations 2020.

This follows a number of serious breaches of licensing and Covid safety legislation.

The owner, Shahid Ali, has served alcohol to groups on his premises despite this being prohibited by law.

Similarly, the Council says there was a complete absence of any Covid safety measures to protect takeaway customers or staff – no signage, no entry/exit process and nothing to stop groups gathering.

The order will mean the Saleem Bagh restaurant will not be allowed to open until the owner can demonstrate to the Council that satisfactory Covid compliant arrangements are in place.

The authority said both it and local police officers took Covid breaches of the law and guidance very seriously.

A spokesperson said: “We will continue to monitor the situation in the borough and will not hesitate to take any necessary action to maintain public health and ensure the safety of residents.”
