Jack's giant giveaway scheme set to boost local charities

Solihull Editorial 11th Dec, 2020   0

CHARITIES directly supporting the Castle Bromwich community have been invited to apply to the Jack’s Supports scheme to receive some well-deserved funding.

Jack’s Supermarket, on Timberley Lane, part of the Tesco family, launched its Jack’s Supports scheme to donate proceeds from the sale of carrier bags to local good causes.

Normally, four local groups are shortlisted and receive a £250 donation.

However, after such a difficult year, Jack’s is offering even more support by donating £400 to every charity that applied.

This includes 68 community groups local to its 12 stores – worth more than £27,000 in donations.

The groups from the Castle Bromwich area to receive the funding were: Chelmsley Colts FC, Damson Wood Nursery & Infant School, Hazel Oak Parent Enterprise (HOPE), KIDS Family Centre, Kinetone Green School, Kingshurst Primary School, Marie Curie West Midlands Hospice, and Our Lady of the Wayside Pre-School.

Louise Antill, from Hazel Oak Parent Enterprise (HOPE), said: “The donation we have received from the Jack’s Supports scheme will be put towards our new sensory room, which will be used by children with an array of additional needs.

“As a special needs school charity, any support we receive is appreciated.”

Laura Cerrone, store manager of Jack’s Castle Bromwich, said: “It’s wonderful we have been able to provide support for all organisations who have applied this year as it’s important to everyone at Jack’s to be able to give back to the local community who have always been so kind to us.”
