Solihull has stayed Conservative with increased massive majorities in the borough’s parliamentary seats including Meriden.
In Solihull constituency, Julian Knight retains the seat he first won in 2015.
He increased his majority to over 20,000 on a disastrous night nationally for the Labour and Liberal Democrat parties in an election dominated by Brexit issues.
Mr Knight said attempts to deny the democratic outcome of the 2016 EU referendum – when he voted Remain – had been a key issue.
With an historic general election defeat for Labour nationally under Jeremy Corbyn, the party came second in Solihull – with Nick Stephens polling 11. 036.
Ade Adeyemo came third for the Liberal Democrats- who fought on an anti-Brexit platform – with 9,977.
The Greens – the second largest party in Solihull council – polled just 2,022 with its candidate Rosemary Sexton.
Turnout in Solihull was high, at 77 per cent.
In Meriden, Saqib Bhatti held the seat for the Tories held since 1997 by the now retired Dame Caroline Spelman, with an increased majority and over 34,000 votes.
Labour candidate Teresa Beddis polled 11,522, Liberal Democrat Laura McCarthy 5,614 and Green Steve Cauldwell 2667. Turnout was 63.8 per cent.
