BUDDING businessmen and women at a Solihull school put their entrepreneurial skills to good use and raised money for Carers Trust Solihull.
Year five pupils at the Eversfield Preparatory School were each given a £5 note and asked to make as much as they could from it with a fundraising activity.
The children baked and sold cakes and craft items, washed cars, sold refreshments at a comedy event and one even recorded a Christmas album and sold more than 200 CDs.
Others held raffles and auctioned off a signed Birmingham City football shirt.
At each event they explained why the school’s council had decided to raise funds for Solihull’s young carers and how the charity, Carers Trust, provides support for these young people.
So far they have raised £4,033 and the school say there is still more money coming in.
Pater Masters, volunteer at Carers Trust Solihull, said: “It’s been a real pleasure to see the energy and joy with which you’ve approached raising this money.
“We will be able to further support our young carers.”
Robert Yates, headmaster at the school, said: “They have worked so hard to support our charity in many ingenious ways.
“They should be very proud of their efforts and the enthusiasm with which they have approached their various activities.”
Eversfield will continue to raise money for Carers Trust Solihull throughout the year and present the charity with a final cheque at the end of the summer term.
