SALLY Walton’s hat-trick continued Olton & West Warwick Hockey Club’s fine start to life in Investec Ladies Division One North in a straightforward 4-1 victory against Ben Rhydding.
With the Investec Ladies Division One North out of action after their encounter with the University of Nottingham in Division One North was rained off, the ladies made amends with a fine showing at Grange Road.
A penalty stroke brought the opening goal, one which was expertly smashed into the net by Walton in the 13th minute, who then doubled the lead four minutes later from open play.
Sade Gerald then dispatched from a penalty corner on the stroke of half time to put Olton in cruise control.
The visitors did register on the scoresheet with a penalty stroke six minutes from time, but Walton made sure she secured her hat-trick goal in the dying seconds with another from open play.
The win sends Olton up to third in the division, four points behind the leaders Swansea with two games in hand.
A trip to Durham awaits both the ladies and men’s first XI’s on Saturday November 9.
