Solihull Council in appeal for more foster carers - with all invited to information evening

SOLIHULL Council is calling for more people to become foster carers.

A Fostering Information Evening on Tuesday October 15 will help people find out more about becoming a foster carer.

It takes place at the Council’s Civic Suite from 6.30pm until 8pm at the Civic Suite, rear of the Council House, Manor Square,

It provides an opportunity to learn about the fostering process, ask questions and speak informally to some current foster carers.

The council says: “Almost anyone can become a foster carer, whether you are single, married, young or retired, a home owner or in rented accommodation.

“All you need is a spare bedroom and a willingness to give a child a stable and loving home. Foster carers of all ages, cultures and backgrounds are needed in Solihull to look after children for short and longer periods of time.”

Cabinet member for education and skills, councillor Ken Meeson, said: “Our foster carers do an incredibly important job and we are now searching for more people to provide a safe and supportive environment for children across the Borough.

“I would urge anyone considering fostering to come along to the information evening to hear more about what’s involved and have a coffee with our friendly team of social workers.“

Attendees do not have to book in advance and can simply arrive on the night.

For further information on fostering people are invited to sign up to the Council’s email news alerts www.solihull.gov.uk/stayconnected. If you are unable to attend please call 0121 788 4253 for more information or visit www.solihull.gov.uk/fostering
