Blooming Great Tea Party raises funds for Marie Curie hospice

A ‘BLOOMING great’ tea party was held to raise money for Marie Curie.

The Village Hotel in Shirley teamed up with the Marsh Lane hospice to host the Blooming Great Tea Party.

A team of chefs from the Dog Kennel Lane hotel served up their new afternoon tea range to patients, their loved ones, the Mayor of Solihull Councillor Stuart Davis as well as members of the public in exchange for donations.

They raised £200 which will go towards the running costs and care at the hospice.

The Mayor was given a tour of the hospice including the gardens and met some of the patients in their bedrooms with hospice manager, Charlotte Lindley.

The Mayor said: “I was here when the Marie Curie Hospice first opened its doors in Solihull and to see it now, all those years later, still being an irreplaceable part of peoples’ lives is so heart-warming.

“By sharing stories and a slice of cake with the people who Marie Curie cares for, it becomes clear that this is a remarkable place populated with incredible individuals whose kindness and generosity make a real difference in some of the most difficult moments of a person’s life.

“This place is a true credit to our borough.”
