SOLIHULL’S next generation of trampoliners will attempt to be crowned as British champion this weekend, when competing in the Trampoline, Tumbling & DMT British Championships.
The tournament, held at Arena Birmingham, will play host to 50 gymnasts from the West Midlands, with Solihull’s Heart of England Trampoline & DMT Club set to be represented by 11 of its members.
Wayne Smith, a coach at the club, is looking forward to the experience, and urges locals to attend in their numbers.
“I’m thrilled to have so many gymnasts from the club competing at the British Championships next weekend,” he said.
“We’ve got gymnasts ranging from 10 to 27 years old – to have our seniors showing the youngsters how it’s done is so special to see.
“It’s always a fantastic event and with three different disciplines, it’s a brilliant experience for spectators – I hope to see lots of Midlands support there.”
A notable competitor at the Championships is Kat Driscoll, who has represented Great Britain previously at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics, with hopes of securing a 20th successive medal in preparation for Tokyo 2020.
