Woman dies after being hit by bus in Solihull

A WOMAN has died after being hit by a bus in Solihull this morning (Monday, September 16).

West Midlands Ambulance Service said it received several 999 calls to reports of a collision on Poplars Road at around 7.30am (Monday).

A West Midlands Ambulance Service spokeswoman nothing could be done to save the woman and she was confirmed dead by paramedics on scene.

Detective Sergeant Alan Hands, from the Serious Collision Investigation Unit, said: “We are in the early stages of our investigation and I would appeal to anyone who saw what happened to get in touch with us as soon as possible.”




There are road diversions in place and these are expected to last for several hours while investigations take place.

The council tweeted car parks are open as usual apart from Marks and Spencers on Poplar Road which is inaccessible.


National Express West Midlands tweeted: “Solihull town centre is still closed due to a serious accident and is expected to be closed for a few hours.

“Congestion in and around this area is very heavy and services are experiencing delays of up to 45 minutes unfortunately.

“Adjustments are being made where possible.”
