SOLIHULL Trading Standards is calling on Silhillians to be vigilant after an elderly lady was conned out of £160 by a rogue gardener.

The resident received a call at her door from a man who said he was there to do her garden.

The lady thought that he was from the same gardening company she usually uses and paid him £160 cash for a variety of work. On Facebook Solihull Trading Standards and Environmental Compliance said: “The man said he was going to his van to pick up her receipt and tools and he never came back.”

Trading Standards said the man is described as a white male, between 30 and 40 years old, of a skinny build, wearing a long sleeved grey top and matching trousers.

He was also reported to be wearing a baseball cap with fluorescent yellow markings and black trainers with pink laces.

Anyone with information should contact Trading Standards on [email protected].
