A SCHOOLBOY, 13, has been hit by a suspected stolen car during a chaotic few hours of police pursuits through the Sheldon area.

And a woman was also injured by another suspected stolen vehicle after a crash only hours later.

A West Midlands Police spokesperson said: “Police are appealing for information after separate collisions following two brief police pursuits in Birmingham on Tuesday (April 16).

“A suspected stolen Seat Arona hit a 13-year-old boy in Weaver Avenue, Sheldon, around 3pm before the driver left the scene on foot. The boy was taken to hospital with a fractured arm.

“In another collision a VW Golf – also believed to be stolen – was involved in a crash with a silver BMW at around 5.25pm.

“A woman in the BMW suffered a fractured leg and other injuries which were not serious. The driver again fled on foot.

“The force’s Professional Standards Department (PSD) has been informed along with the IOPC which is routine in such matters.

“Any witnesses or anyone with information has been asked to get in touch via Live Chat at west-midlands.police.uk between 8am and midnight, call 101 anytime, or contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
