Murder suspect arrested after Solihull man killed in hit-and-run

A MAN has been arrested on suspicion of murder after Solihull man Steven Day was killed in a ‘deliberate’ hit-and-run last year.

A 38-year-old man was arrested this morning and is currently in custody for questioning.

Mr Day was struck by a VW Golf at around 5pm on Monday. July 16 on Warwick Road, Olton.

Mr Day, aged 46, was walking on the pavement at the time. He was confirmed dead at the scene.




A man, 19, was arrested on suspicion of dangerous driving and murder after handing himself into West Midlands Police on Friday, July 20.

He was released pending investigation.


Detective inspector Stuart Mobberley, from the force’s homicide team, said: “We’re still working hard to establish the circumstances of what happened and help provide answers for Steven’s family.

“This arrest is a significant development in our investigation and Steven’s family are being kept fully up to date.

“We are still keen to hear from anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen anything which can assist our enquiries.”
