ACOUSTIC versions from jazz standards to punk classics can be heard when The Unlikely take to the stage of Leamington’s Loft Theatre.

Singer Angie Collins and guitarist Matthew Salisbury first met three years ago while contributing music to the Loft’s production of The Hollow Crown.

Angie is well known to Loft audiences having recently appeared in Twelfth Night and The Playboy of the Western World. Matthew trod the boards at local theatres for many years as well as being one third of long-standing folk group Romany Pie.

Together they have been building up an impressive set-list and have gigged in clubs, venues and outdoor summer events around the area.

Matthew said: “By looking at each other’s CD shelves we realised we had many similar tastes in music and we’ve tried to reflect that by choosing things by current songwriters as well as a few classics performed in a way people may not have heard before.”

Angie added: “We’ve tried to include a few lesser-known songs by some very well-known musicians – and a few you’d think were ‘unlikely’ for a duo like us.”

The Unlikely play the Loft on Sunday April 14, starting at 7.30pm.
