Family releases tribute to man, 70, who died after being hit by car in Shirley

A MAN, 70, who died after being hit by a car in Shirley has been named as Patrick Joseph Forde.

It is believed he was crossing Stratford Road in Shirley, Solihull, at the junction of Church Road on Sunday (December 2) when he was struck by a silver VW Passat at around 5pm.

The driver of the car stopped at the scene and assisted police with enquiries.

Patrick’s family has released a photo of him and said: “Beloved husband, father and brother. He will be missed.”




Sergeant Alan Wood from the Collision Investigation Unit said: “Stratford Road is a busy stretch of road, I would urge anyone who saw the collision to get in touch.

“Our thoughts are with Patrick’s family at this time who are being supported by our family liaison officers.”


Police are urging anyone who saw what happened to come forward.
