Moors Academy get the better of Earlswood

Solihull Editorial 11th Oct, 2018   0

EARLSWOOD suffered a 3-0 defeat to hosts Moors Academy in Midland League Division Two on Tuesday night.

This was the third time the two teams had met in the space of ten days.

In front of a sizable crowd it was the well drilled home side who took the initiative and scored after just seven minutes from a free kick just outside the penalty area.

After this the game evened out and Earls did create a couple of chances, although the home side always looked dangerous.

Moors added a second goal after 16 minutes to go in at half-time 2-0 up.

The home team increased their lead in the second half but Earls created some good openings and went close on a couple of occasions.

In the 74th minute a Simon Quigley header from a corner beat the home keeper but rebounded back off the crossbar to be hurriedly cleared away and a couple of minutes later Anton Nunes wove his way through the Moors defence only to see his effort narrowly go the wrong side of the post.

Erlswood travel to Coventry Alvis in the Les Jame Challenge Cup on Saturday.
