Berkswell’s lead cut to two points after rain-hit contest

Solihull Editorial 2nd Aug, 2018   0

RAIN truly was a pain for Berkswell whose lead at the top of the Birmingham League Premier Division was cut to two points after their clash against West Bromwich Dartmouth was abandoned.

Berkswell were put into bat after losing the toss and they made steady progress, putting together an opening partnership of 66 before Dan Chaudhry (25) was given out LBW.

Ateeq Javid (88) and Chris Whittock (50) continued to keep the scoreboard ticking over, adding another 87 runs before Javid was out. Berkswell then lost four quick wickets in the space of eight overs for the addition of only 29 runs.

Grant Thornton (26 not out) and Liam Gately (14 not out) were then able to get Berkswell to 247-6 in the 52nd over when the rain came.

Berkswell make the trip to relegation-threatened Barnt Green this Saturday.
