Solihull Editorial 1st Jun, 2018   0

BERKSWELL had to settle for a winning draw in their Birmingham League Premier Division encounter against Ombersley on Saturday.

The match had been reduced to 38 overs per side due to a late start.

Berkswell rattled up 198-7 with only one of their players failing to reach double figures.

Chris Whittock top-scored with 45 and Nick James hit 30 while off-spinner Oliver Uffindall took 3-53 for Ombersley, who failed to reach second gear when it was their turn to bat.

A devastating opening spell from Tom Milnes (5-8) had Ombersley floundering at 28-5 before the visitors settled at 76-6 from their allotted 38 overs to salvage a losing draw.

Berkswell, who lie eighth, travel to seventh-placed Walsall on Saturday.
