Solihull Superstars' Poppy proves her girl power

Solihull Editorial 18th May, 2018   0

A YOUNG Solihull Superstars footballer showed her skills when she played in a boys’ team for the first time.

Poppy Ralph, aged nine, took part in a Central Youth Warwickshire League game against Holly Lane United Celtic in what was a proud moment in Superstars’ history.

The club recently received a £200 cheque from ASDA’s Community Foundation scheme to continue its quest to create and uphold the traditional virtues of sport for young children.

The money will go towards kit and equipment for next season’s teams.

Tom Bates, Solihull Superstars team coach, said: “All of this would not have been possible without the support of the Community Foundation scheme manager Sandra Gricewho works tirelessly as Asda’s Community Champion to help other much-needed charities in the community.

“She is a real diamond and truly one of life’s good people. She’s really an unsung hero.

“We are proud to create smiles on the faces of young boys and girls with their whole lives ahead of them.

“I believe that sport has the capacity to positively and profoundly impact the lives of young people forever.

“We are so privileged to have received the sponsorship from the ASDA Community Foundation.”
