Solihull Editorial 6th Feb, 2018   0

A 16-year-old boy has been arrested on suspicion of a further terrorism offence.

The teenager was waiting to be sentenced after admitting committing terrorism offences.

But he was detained by detectives on Saturday (February 3) from the West Midlands Counter Terrorism Unit on suspicion of distributing a terrorist publication.

The teen is due to be sentenced at Stratford Youth Court in London on February 20 after pleading guilty to one count of preparing for terrorist acts by attempting to travel with an intent to assist terrorist groups.

He was initially detained on June 12 last year at Birmingham Airport after he was reported missing by his family.

He is being held at a police station in the West Midlands under the Police and Criminal Evidence Act 1984.

Police say the arrest was intelligence-led and there was no immediate threat to the public.
